Summer mode means a lot of braids and natural waves around here… but friends, back to school it looming which means back to morning routine and back to styling the hair…
And really, I don’t mind – something about fixing my hair slows me down and calms me. Maybe it’s my zen. Or maybe I’m just still trying to play beauty salon like I did as a kid…
So here we go: three of my favorite tools for gettin’ pretty…
Amika Polished Perfection Styling Brush
So I will be totally honest and say that I was super skeptical that this brush would actually work – I don’t know, it just seemed like a long shot. And while this is not going to replace you flat iron if you want poker straight locks, I do love this for making mornings quick. While I bought it for myself, I have found that I use it most on my daughter’s in the mornings. It is absolutely perfect for smoothing out their rumpled bed-head.
When you use it, you definitely want to section off your hair and then brush from underneath in order for it to work. I love the way it smooths down the frizz too. Oh, and a huge bonus, the brush feature creates a barrier between the heat and your hands – meaning I am fully comfortable letting my girls style their own hair. Which is a win-win — they get to gain some independence & take ownership of their appearance and I get one less thing to be responsible for in the mornings.
