houston children's photographer, houston family photographer, tips for photographing your kids

Are you ready for another hidden children’s photographer secret? It’s so simple but will elevate your photos immensely…

Seriously, any mom who wants to be able to capture all the sweet innocence of their kids in their element can utilize this easy trick.

Ready for it… Clean up! Wait! Keep reading, there’s more!

I know, I know… you have a list a million miles long and you are already struggling to keep the house just functioning… cleaning the house is already on the to-do list so thanks for nothing, right?

But here is the beauty… you are not going to clean the whole house, or even a whole room. All you need to do is clear the clutter from what is in frame. Let me just tell you, if you could see a reverse of the photo above, you would have seen moving boxes still in that room from when we arrived in Houston 8 months prior! Yep, that’s right. Pure mess.

The trick is, when you see your child enjoying something that looks like it would be a gorgeous photo, just let them keep doing what they are doing… quickly and slyly tidy away any distractions from the view… Then step back and shoot away.

The real trick to this is just to toss things just out of range as quickly as possible so that you don’t miss the moment. Sometimes I even grab a quick snap before I clear the mess. Then if I disrupt the fun, I still have a memory to save… But once it is clear then I can frame up the shot and utilize my other photo tricks and create some magic.

Seriously, it’s that easy and will take a photo from “what am I looking at” to “OMG! That’s gorgeous” in seconds.

XOXO
