Not long after moving into our house, my husband commented that we should remodel our pool. While I was not a big fan of what was the pool area looked like, I laughed off the idea of a pool remodel. Cut back some of the overgrown plants, sure. A full remodel? That sounded crazy to me…

But as it tends to happen, the idea started to grow in my mind… soon I could not walk outside without seeing the possibilities. Before I knew it, we were less than a year in the house and getting bids for a full pool remodel.

We decided to stop short of reshaping the pool… sure, I would have loved to create a nice clean rectangular pool and have better ability to make my dream-poolscape, but the cost/benefit just didn’t add up to making sense.

Out went the pea gravel and jagged rock edges. Landscaping that was overgrown & jungle like cleared out to create space behind the pool for chaise lounges. Soft grey travertine stones went it and for the pool deck and coping. And the old dated tiles were replaced with clean blue glass tile. Finally we refinished the surface with a light blue pebble-tec surface.

We’ve been loving the update but somehow stopped short of ordering our lounge furniture. I am the type that often needs to just live with something before deciding exactly what is needed and I was reluctant to jump into buying a bunch of furniture before knowing just how and where we would want to lounge & play.

Well, now that we are homebound for the foreseeable future, we are spending more and more time in and around the pool… and this mama is ready for a soft spot to lifeguard…

So here is what I’ve picked out and ordered for my new and improved poolside…

Crate & Barrel Dune Single Chaise X2 & Double Chaise

We’ve had our eyes on these for a while now and been waiting for them to go on sale. Right now, CB has outdoor furniture up to 40% off and, while this set falls more in the 25% off range, I have not seen a better price over the last year so it seemed like time to go for it. We opted for two of the single loungers and one double. Now the double was the selling point for this particular set. It has all sorts of options for configuring it – traditional double lounger, lounged facing each other or raised to create a sofa… I love the idea that we can set this piece up in different ways for different occasions.

Serena & Lily Hanging Ratan Chair

I have been coveting a hanging Ratan chair for probably 5 years now… determined to find a place for it go… girls room, family room, my room… really anywhere. I do not know why I am so obsessed with these chairs, but I truly am. There are so many cool ones on the market, but I love the simplicity and somehow classic feel to this boho-inspired chair.
