Every summer starts the same – feeling like there are endless days ahead to relax, soak in the sun and slowly create so many memories for my little ones to look back on… but if my years as a mom have taught me anything, it’s that each season seems to pass faster than the last…

There is never enough time for all the things I want for my littles in each stage. I want them to both have every opportunity to try and be exposed to all the activities that are out there and simultaneously have all the unstructured free time to just play and be a child. I know that this is the time in life when learning and trying is the easiest and I also know that these are the only days when their only true obligation is to learning the fundamentals at school…

And as summer brings the freedom from school, it always seems the time to enjoy the best of both worlds – camps to try things they don’t get to do during the school year and freedom to explore and just be a kid.

This summer, I am once again setting out to create & capture memories that we experience together in the slower days – making homemade ice cream, seeing fireworks, playing by the pool… my list isn’t grand or elaborate, but rather focused on the things that I look back on my own childhood as moments of joy. I want to purposefully carve out time for the slower moments of being a kid that get lost in the chaos of homework, projects and sports from September to May…

June, July & August… these are OUR months. The months that I get to relive my own summer days through their eyes. The months that I don’t have to share them with teachers and coaches.

And with one who will turn 10 in the fall, I am acutely aware that I have 8 summers left with her before she heads out into the world… and far fewer when time with me will be her top priority…

So here goes, my list for summer fun… and of course, I will be capturing these moments so that they can fill my walls with memories of fun, love & joy… I hope you join in and create some #summermemories2019 with me…

XOXO
