I’ll be totally honest and say that I think one of the things I miss most not having a baby in the house right now is the excuse to buy swaddle blankets from Aden + Anais…
Now, I know that while these blankets were the newest & latest when my first was born, they are long established at this point. But I will say, that after 4 babies of my own & many, many newborn portraits I have tried ever so many various brands of swaddle blankets and nothing compares to Aden + Anais.
These blankets are beautiful. They get softer and more cuddly with every wash. And they have just way too many uses – ours have been used to swaddle babies, in photo sessions, as airplane blankets, nursing covers, and yes, superhero capes.
And really, it’s not just the blankets I love for Aden + Anais. The full size blankets, diapers, pajamas, burp cloth bibs… really everything they do is amazing.
Now sure, I know that figuring out how to swaddle a little one with an actual blanket instead of the zip in or strap in types out there can seem intimidating. But I have to say, my littles never liked any of those others and once I set my mind to learning to swaddle, it really was not too hard…
For me, I took to learning to master the swaddle while I was at the hospital when my second was born. Every time the nurses asked if there was anything else they could get me or do for me, my answer would be “yes. Teach me how to swaddle.”
I think the biggest thing I learned by doing that was that – unsurprisingly – everyone swaddles a little different but the real trick was to get them snug by using their own body weight to hold the blanket in place while wrapping them up…
While I don’t think that I can do the explanation justice, I will try to circle back with a video to demo how I do my swaddles for sleep time… Any one want to let me borrow their newborn? 😉
XOXO
