Art has always been in my life. My grandmother was an artist. My mother is an artist. My first exposure to art was when my mother painted with me in a baby carrier on her front. Every lesson in life involved some form of “what can we create to solve this” as an underlying theme. While I dove into my sports, activities and school work, art was always there in some way - opening up my soul and seeking to share it with the world. I’d paint. I’d dance. I’d write. I’d design. I never quiet knew where it was leading me but underneath it all, art was in my soul. It taught me to seek out the beauty in the world, to capture emotions and share them, to open my heart and take risks…

All the while, I took photos. I started with a 110mm pink and purple Le Clic pocket camera. I can still here the whirl of the flash warming up and see the glow of the little green light telling me it was ready to fire. I captured snapshots of my friends and I at camp and girl scouts. I took photos of the important memories in my life, forever wanting to remember the moment. Over the years, the Le Clic was replaced by many many many disposable cameras which taught me about film speeds and which ISOs were used for which conditions. I continued to freeze memories in time. The disposables eventually gave way to my own digital Canon which slipped nicely into the back pocket of my jeans or hung proudly around my wrist everywhere I went in college and there after. I captured my friends having too much fun and my honeymoon in Tahiti. I was never without a camera long before the era of iPhones…

Then, on an amazing day in October in 2009, life changed forever - motherhood took over my life and filled me with a love and joy that I did not even know existed before that. I wanted to preserve every single day, every moment, every change of this little life. And I wanted to always remember the bonds and moments in our relationships just as they were. I was afraid I would forget what she looked like before she fell and got the scar in her eyebrow. I was afraid I wouldn’t remember how she would reach around my side while I nursed her and rubbed my back.

No longer was I satisfied with a quick snapshot that might or might not perfectly capture the memory. I needed to control the image. And two of the long passions in my life converged…

Suddenly the art in my life and the need to capture every precious memory came together and the fire that had always been driving my heart ignited…
From that point on, my camera has been the tool which shares the art in my heart with the world. I continue to learn and grow as a photographer, but one thing remains constant - the drive to show the beauty in the world and most importantly the beauty of the love between those in front of my lens…

How I Found PHOTOGRAPHY

...my littles, who I lovingly call Monkey, Bear,
Lion and, coming Nov 2016, Tiger...
...my rock, my support, my source of laughter
and my other half, my amazing husband...
...the feel of the ocean breeze in my hair, my
feet squishing into the sand and the sound of
my family laughing & playing in the ocean...
...giggles of my littles dancing at sunset
while sipping red wine and gazing
at the Italian countryside...
...thunder storming around while cuddled
under a warm blanket reading a good book
or watching a favorite movie...
